“The best way to support artists is to commission them to do what they love and create new work!” - Sumerah Srivastav, Co-Artistic Director of Kahani Arts.
REDBRIDGE CREATVIVES ARE GO!
Kahani Arts and Kenneth More Theatre are proud to announce our first wave of South Asian Redbridge Creatives from our GO CREATE! programme.
A total of ten new/emerging theatre-makers and performers from Redbridge have been awarded seed grants of £500 each, to develop a short excerpt, which will be showcased at the Kenneth More Theatre in October, as part of a festival celebrating the local Asian Community and its stories.
KAHANI ARTS is a brand new multi-disciplinary arts organisation resident at Kenneth More Theatre, and we aim to support, develop and produce the next generation of British Asian artists and create work that appeals to everyone.
Ajay Srivastav, Kahani Arts Artistic Director: “I’m so excited to be part of these artists’ creative journey. They represent the multitude of experiences of being Asian in East London.. some are funny, some are serious and all of them need to be heard. We look forward to presenting them in October”
Sally Polden, Head of Theatre, Kenneth More Theatre: “Working with the team at Kahani has been great and it’s been amazing to hear the different stories from the creatives. We’re thrilled to be providing them with this platform and hope it encourages more members of the local Asian community to be a part of what we do!”
Our first ten creatives are
Amanda Rosario; Natasha Samrai; Tahira Dar; Nazeer Vawda & Ayaaz Tariq; Romo Sikdar-Rahman; Sharan Atwal; Adil Malik; Prashant Tailor & Gavin Joseph; Abir Mohammad and Saher Shah

Our first 10 seed commissions went to these amazing creatives. Kahani Arts is proud to be a part of their journey. Hear their story at our festival in October at Kenneth More Theatre
